Save our Open Space - Parkland while still increasing subsidized housing.
Councils direction to increase affordable housing does not need to be at the expense of land conservation for open space. Designated open space or parkland that has supported outdoor recreation should be preserved for present and future taxpayers. There are several properties which are already zoned appropriately to support the need for affordable housing in our community.
The rezoning of 161 Church St.(most know it as part of the sandpit hill) from open space to multi residential will be detrimental. This property is used, and has been for decades, by so many for recreational purposes, including: walking, running, biking, kite flying, family picnics,etc... etc... , the list is endless.
Development will ruin the recreational splendour of this property.
The rezoning of 161 Church Street will interrupt users from connecting to the existing trail system. Have your say at council meeting scheduled for April 11, 2018.

A report was prepared in 2016 by the Director of Planning that falsely identified 161 Church St as 159 Church St with a zoning of RM. It was subsequently reviewed and submitted to council for consideration as an affordable housing site.
However, the property in question is actually zoned as Open Space (or Parkland).
I agree that our Open Space should be protected .
The report also identifies 111 Church St ( falsely labelled 110 ) as a viable option and zoned R3.
